:008 Read your water meter

Welcome to today’s 1:5:10:365 Tip for becoming a better steward for our home and planet.

1:5:10:008 Tip: Your 1:5:10 goal for today is to locate your water meter and learn to read it. This is the first step towards identifying if you have hidden water leaks. There are a number of styles of meters that are read in different ways which will be explained under “Additional Information”.

Tomorrow’s goal will be to use today’s information to determine how much water is being wasted by hidden leaks.

The  California Urban Water Conservation Council under a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has developed a web-site with excellent instructions on how to find and read your water meter. Here is the link:
