:276 Insulated Slab Edge

Welcome to today’s 1:5:10:365 Tip for becoming a better steward for our home and planet environment.

1:5:10:276 EcoTip: Insulating the foundation slab edge can help save from 7 to 11% of the heat lost from a typical home.

Source: Department of Energy

 Additional Information:

When constructing a new home the EnergyEdge provides a concrete form that remains in place after the pour to provide slab insulation. During construction is the easiest time to insulate a slab.

Additional information about insulating slabs and foundations is available from the Builders Foundation Handbook

  1. I stumbled onto your blog when researching a radon fix for my home….just had to say how much I love and appreciate what you are doing! A fantastic resource; I must now go back and catch up on 9 months of entries. How has this year been for you? Will you continue into next year? Thank you, thank you, from a woman in Annapolis, Maryland.

    Hi Laura,
Thanks for the positive words. It has been a great nine months! The September statistics indicate over 5000 views. I’m sure I will continue blogging, but I don’t know if I will post every single day – which was my challange for 2008.

I would be interested in hearing about your radon problem, how you decide to approach it, and any additional questions for which your not finding the answers.
