:310 Voluntary Gas Tax

Take the 1:5:10:365 challenge: Do one thing – for 5 to 10 minutes – 365 days a year to make our home and planet environment better.

1:5:10:310 EcoTip: Now that gas prices have begun to come down it is time to start seriously preparing for when they go up again. By earmarking and saving the difference between the amount you would be spending if gas rates were at their peak, and what they are now, you can begin to build up a fund to help offset the purchase of some big ticket energy saver such as a plug-in hybrid, solar system or other alternative.

By assessing a “voluntary” gas tax against yourself – you will be able to control how it is used (which I consider a much better option than having the tax collected by the government). The money that gets set aside now can be used to help fund other “green” projects by investing it in an environmentally friendly bank account or other project until you have enough saved to fund your goal.
